MOVIE GUIDE. This was one of the first movies I showed my students and I can still hear their laughter. This fun, interfaith and intercultural romantic comedy is an opportunity to appreciate the humor by understanding the history behind it. Viewers will learn the far-reaching effects of the great schism in Christianity on culture today, through an evolutionary lens. Learn and laugh! Add the sequel (2016) for a double-feature.

As a preview, visit a Greek Orthodox Church for an authentic experience of the religion. I took my students to St. Nicholas Church on the Sunday morning after we saw this film. It was a memorable experience that gave the students a real life encounter with a living religion and a gracious community.
